Who We Are

Sententia is Latin for sentence, but also means thought, meaning and purpose, all of which are relevant to the work we seek to publish. Sententia embraces the traditional and experimental in narrative, both in the books we publish as well as in the journal.

Paula Bomer is the publisher and editor of Sententia Books and Sententia: The Journal. She is also the author of the collection Inside Madeleine (2014), called “remarkable” at HTMLGiant and “gut-wrenching” by Kirkus, the novel Nine Months (2012), of which Library Journal warned “Mommy Lit Lovers will be horrified”,  and the collection Baby and Other Stories (2010), which received a starred review in Publisher’s Weekly and  O Magazine  selected as number one in their “Titles to Pick Up Now” calling it a “brilliant, brutally raw debut collection.” She grew up in South Bend, Indiana and now lives in New York.  Find out more about her at paulabomer.com.

Nick Rockwell is the co-publisher.

Assistant Editor Christopher Flores is a graduate of SUNY Albany where he earned his Bachelor’s degree in Journalism. He’s currently studying for his Masters in Creative Writing at City College New York. His interest in fiction and poetry is far reaching, including, literary and genre work.

Business manager and designer Adam Robinson lives in Atlanta, where he runs Publishing Genius Press and works full time as a publishing consultant. He is the author of Adam Robison and Other Poems and Say Poem.

Submissions

Books

Because we believe that attention for the books we publish is extremely important, in 2015 Sententia’s primary focus will be on promoting our catalog. Therefore, we are not currently accepting submissions for full-length manuscripts.

The Journal

Sententia: The Journal will begin posting unique content online (as well as work from the back issues) in 2015. Work from Sententia 5: Longer Short Stories is already available here. Currently we are looking for your best poetry, fiction, and essays (up to about 3,000 words). Please send work directly to sententiabooks@gmail.com with a short bio. There is no payment at this time.
